Continental Divide 2: Tokyo Drift

There are a surprisingly large number of cops (3) that we've seen since crossing the continental divide going west. I am also amazed that we have crossed the continental divide twice in a month (by car).

So, you've actually crossed two continental divides twice each on this trip. When you cross the big one in the Montana Rockies, you go between the Pacific and Gulf of Mexico watersheds. But at some point between there and Chicago (with no fanfare because it's completely inconspicuous) you crossed from there into the Atlantic (by way of the Great Lakes and St Lawrence River) watershed.

I think of the Appalachians as another continental divide, between the Great Lakes system and the direct route to the Atlantic, but I don't think most geographers would agree.
